ATCHISON, KS MAN ELECTED REGIONAL MINISTER

Frank Carpinelli, SFO, Ph.D. college English professor from Atchison, KS, has been elected regional minister of the Juan de Padilla Region of the Secular Franciscan Order. As regional minister he serves on the National Council and oversees a region encompassing Kansas, Oklahoma, and the area around Kansas City, MO.

Professed in 1984, Carpinelli has served as minister of his local Franciscan Fraternity, St. Maximilian Kolbe, and as regional formation director. He is a lector at his church.

When not involved with Secular Franciscans, Carpinelli teaches English at Benedictine College in Atchison, and is involved with the Rotary Club, the Knights of Columbus and on the board of Habitat for Humanity.

Carpinelli and his wife, Cecilia, have five children.

The SFO is a Catholic order of married and single people who strive to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi.

PORT ANGELES, WA WOMAN ELECTED REGIONAL MINISTER

Elaine S. Hedtke, SFO, of Port Angeles, WA, has been elected regional minister of Troubadours of Peace Region of the Secular Franciscan Order. As regional minister she serves on the National Council and oversees a region encompassing the states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska.

Professed in 1995, Hedtke has served as formation director for her local Franciscan Fraternity, San Damiano, and as a regional councilor and regional vice minister. For her local church, she has been involved in adult faith formation and Eucharistic outreach, and she is the diocesan peace-and-justice contact.

When not involved with Secular Franciscans, Hedtke serves as a volunteer and board member for the local Community Food Bank, and serves as an instructor and instructor-trainer for the American Red Cross. She is the retired chief of police for Tucson, AZ.

Hedtke has four children. She holds a bachelor's degree in social sciences and a master's degree in history.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM WOMAN ELECTED REGIONAL MINISTER

Christine Imislund, SFO, a high school English and Biology teacher from Albuquerque, NM, has been elected regional minister of Our Lady of Guadalupe Region of the Secular Franciscan Order. As regional minister she serves on the National Council and oversees a region encompassing New Mexico, western Texas and part of Arizona.

Professed in 1985, Imislund has served as minister of her local Franciscan Fraternity, St. Anthony, and as regional formation member and local formation director. She is a lector at her church, a Eucharistic minister and has been on the team for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults for 11 years.

When not involved with Secular Franciscans, Imislund teaches English and Biology, and is involved as Facilitator for Instructional Council for her high school, and a Civitan Member who raises money and aids young people who are unable to buy school clothes and medicines.

She holds a master's degree in secondary education and a nursing degree.

EDWARDSVILLE, IL WOMAN ELECTED REGIONAL MINISTER

Sue Nelson, SFO, of Edwardsville, IL, has been elected regional minister of Franciscans of the Prairie Region of the Secular Franciscan Order. As regional minister she serves on the National Council and oversees a region encompassing the Dioceses of Peoria and Springfield (the northern three-quarters of Illinois, except for the northeast corner).

Professed in 1996, Nelson has served as minister of her local Franciscan Fraternity, Our Lady of the Angels. She is a lector, Eucharistic minister and evangelization chairwoman at her church.

When not involved with Secular Franciscans, Nelson serves as an American Cancer Society area representative and on the City Zoning Board. She is a retired secretary to the Madison County Clerk, and is a past president of the Springfield Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and past Family Life chairwoman.

Nelson is a graduate of Academy of Our Lady, Peoria, IL. She and her husband, Patrick, have seven children.

O'FALLON, MO WOMAN ELECTED REGIONAL MINISTER

Jan Parker, SFO, of O'Fallon, MO, has been elected regional minister of St. Clare Region of the Secular Franciscan Order. As regional minister she serves on the National Council and oversees a region encompassing most of Missouri, the northern third of Arkansas, the southern quarter of Illinois, and the southwestern tip of Indiana.

Professed in 1988, Parker helped form a local Franciscan Fraternity in St. Louis, and has been active on the regional level as a councilor and formation director.

When not involved with Secular Franciscans, Parker works as a pastoral associate at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dardenne Prairie, MO. She is the coordinator of music and liturgy, and parish newsletter editor. She is involved in Bible camp, trains liturgical ministers, and coordinates concerts and prayer services.

Parker has three children.
